Nelson Ribeiro is Associate Professor of Communication Studies at the Faculty of Human Sciences at the Universidade Católica Portuguesa, where he coordinates the Doctoral Programme in Communication Studies and the Lisbon Winter School for the Study of Communication. Principal Investigador of the project “Broadcasting in the Portuguese Empire: Nationalism, Colonialism, Identity”, financed by FCT and the European Union, he also coordinates the Portuguese team of the project “COMPACT – Social Media and Convergence”, financed by Horizon 2020. He is a member of the network “Connecting the Wireless World”, sponsored by the Leverhulme Trust, and of the consortium “Entangled Media Histories”. Since 2016 he is a member of the International Council and Chair of the History Section at the International Association for Media and Communication Research (IAMCR). Between 2016 and 2018 he was also the Chair of the Commuication History Section at the European Communication Research and Education Association (ECREA). His most recent publications are: “Colonization through Broadcasting.
