Rádio Voz de Angola began operating in 1968. It was a station aimed at the African population, combining propaganda against the liberation movements and Angolan music. The announcement was given to African voices and the station started recording black music, following the scripts of singers and musical groups of note of shows in the musseques. Working alongside Emissora Oficial de Angola, sharing facilities and equipment but with an autonomous organisational structure, Radio Voz de Angola was controlled by the political police and the fifth division of the armed forces, which meant it had precise ideological orientation. The precise objective was to combat MPLA radio broadcasts.
